Micrografx Picture Publisher 10.1
I had this since version 6 and this is the one I use most often. Any
photo touchups, I always come to this one. I dont think they make this
anymore but it is still one of the best.
Micrografx Picture Publisher is the fastest, easiest, and most powerful
image editor for Windows. Combined with its Office
interface, Picture
Publisher offers powerful photo retouching, objects and layers, natural
media brushes, over 130 effects, macros and wizards, and GIF and JPG
support for the Web.
New Features and Enhancements
Picture Publisher 10 contains the following new features and enhancements:
Image Slicing The Image
Slicer tool lets you slice an image into
rectangular components. See Image Slicer Tool.
Rollovers This feature lets you add rollover properties to objects.
For example, when a user moves the pointer over the object, it changes
color.
Previewing Multiple Images for Web Output The new Web Optimizer lets
you
preview multiple file formats and modify settings for exporting an
image for a Web page. You can compare the variations with the original
to find the best compromise of quality and size.
Saving for the Web Use the new Export as Web Page command on the Web menu to create HTML and save images that use image slicing
or rollovers.
HTML Slide Show The HTML Slideshow Generator wizard creates a slide
show from a series of images. There are options for selecting file size,
format page color, automatic advancement, and delay between slides.

Text on a Curve You can align text to a curve with various
control
parameters.
Text Editing Mode The new Edit Text dialog box lets you add or change
text and format it. You can use character attributes, leading, kerning,
and vertical text. See Using the Text Edit dialog box.
Vertical Text Mode The Vertical Text button on the Text ribbon lets
you enter vertical text
mode. This is most useful for entering Japanese
characters.
New Gradient Fills Picture Publisher now includes the following new
fill types: Colorize, Conical, Spiral, and Wavy gradient fills.
New Blur Effects New blur effects you can use are Radial, Streaking,
and Zoom blurs. The Blur Effects dialog box has
these and other blur
effects.
Particle Studio The Particle Studio effect applies a fire effect to an
image.
Lightning Effect The Lightning effect generates lightning streak effects.
Paint Studio Plugin The Paint Studio plugin provides artistic image
painting effects.
Texture Warehouse Plugin The Texture
Warehouse plugin is a
sophisticated texture generation tool.
Locking and Specifying Transparent Colors You can lock specific colors
during color palette reduction to ensure the colors are in the optimized
palette. You can also specify multiple transparent colors for saving.
Image Edge Wizard Enhancements The
Image Edge wizard has been enhanced to support three types of layers. It also supports custom creation of edges with unlimited layers.
Perspective Shadow The Perspective Shadow wizard lets you create a
perspective shadow from any floating object or masked area on your
image.
Color Management Enhancements Color
management profiles are now
applied dynamically on the fly at display time; pixels are no longer
permanently changed. Gray, RGB, and CMYK are used, based on the type of image. Reading and writing of PSD embedded profiles are supported, as is embedding profiles in PPF files. See What is CMS? and Setting up CMS.
Removing Propagation Errors Removing propagation errors from sampling improves the quality of the image object size operation.
Optimized Memory Management We improved memory management and made other performance enhancements for faster loading and saving of all file formats.
Bevel Factory Presets You can now
save and load settings in the Bevel
Factory. This saves you time when you have defined complex settings that you wish to reuse. Also, Picture Publisher comes with several examples of various effects that can be achieved with the Bevel Factory.
Micro%oft System Installer The Microsoft System Installer (MSI) is now
used for installing, modifying, or uninstalling Picture Publisher.
EXIF File Format Support Picture Publisher now has the ability to read
EXIF tags. EXIF is the file format output by most digital cameras,
usually in JPEG or TIFF file format, and displays information about the
picture. To see this, click the
Image Info button, or Properties on the
File menu, then click the EXIF tab.
Still Image API Picture Publisher now supports the stillimage
architecture of Window 98 and newer versions. This allows a device to
cause an image to be pushed to a registered application. For example,
you could press the Start button on
a scanner to automatically launch
Picture Publisher and acquire an image.
Image Healer The Image Healer lets you remove defects from images,
such as scratches and fold marks on old photographs, text, or streaks. A
mask is required.
PhotoAlbum Micrografx PhotoAlbum lets you quickly preview several
images at once.
It uses the familiar Windows Explorer navigation pane,
showing disk drives, network resources, folders, and files. Thumbnails
of all images in a folder are displayed on the right. This makes it easy
to locate images you needbut PhotoAlbum lets you do much more. You can create custom albums, attach descriptions and
other properties to
properties, perform some editing functions, and output images for
several different uses, including sending them to a photo printing
service.
To open PhotoAlbum, on the Start menu, point to Programs and Micrografx, then click Micrografx PhotoAlbum.
